The History
Chainmaille is thought to be the earliest form of metal armor, most likely invented before the 5th century by the ancient Celts. The name comes from the French word "maille" meaning "mesh of a net".

The Process
All chainmaille sold by Silver Box Designs is completely handcrafted.  Silver wire is first wrapped around a mandrel, cut and tumble polished, which strengthens and shines the rings.  The rings are then hand-woven, one by one, by artisan Kristen Anderson to create each intricate weave. Each finished piece is once again tumble polished for added durability and sheen.

The Care
Chainmaille is durable and easy to care for. To clean, simply mix a paste of baking soda and water, gently scrub into the jewelry with a toothbrush, rinse thoroughly with warm water and immediately pat dry.
